Campaign Highlight - Akcelerant
Strong partners in the Chester County business community are
a critical element in allowing United Way of Chester County to achieve the
positive changes in the community that we continually strive for. Here we
are highlighting one such partner whose corporate culture so clearly aligns
with the mission of United Way.
Akcelerant has been a partner with United Way for 10 years. This year, they
set lofty goals for their campaign and proudly exceeded them by focusing
not only on contributions but also on participation. The organization works
year round to assist United Way in raising much-needed resources by
coordinating chili cook-offs, bake sales, canned good collections and coin
wars. Employees are encouraged to don their favorite team jerseys donating
$2 a day for the chance to do so!

Share the Warmth Completes Another Season of Success
|
In what turned out to be one of the harshest winters in
history, United Way once again collaborated with Good Works and Good
Neighbors to continue the Share the Warmth home winterization project.
This year, 35 more families were added to the list of those who received
much needed repairs and services.
Since its inception 5 winters ago, 178 families have received assistance
through Share the Warmth with grant totals of $464,703. This translates
to 72 window or door replacements, 53 roof repairs or replacement, 54
heaters or furnaces replaced or repaired, 37 tanks of fuel oil or vouchers,
9 insulation installations, 6 chimney repairs, 2 new
gutters, 3 houses with new siding or stucco, 2 replaced
thermostats, 2 electrical repairs, 1 radiator repair, 1 sump pump
replacement and countless other miscellaneous repairs that keep families
safe and warm inside their homes.
United Way of Chester County appreciates the partnership of the Daily Local
News that has assisted in raising additional funds to support this
important initiative as well as raise awareness of the issue in our
community.
